Not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent

Even with a price drop.

Looks like Microsoft has dropped the price of Vista in hopes to try and get more people to adopt it. I think it's too little too late and the only way they'll get new subscriptions is with "pre-configured" computers from Dell and what not that won't offer XP on them. Sucks to be the consumer but when you're as big of a bully as Microsoft is you're going to have casualties.

I wonder if Microsoft realizes that we as consumers aren't saving our pennies hoping that maybe, one day, we'll be able to afford Windows Vista?

I have yet to see anything besides some proprietary hardware from Compaq that requires Vista, and it's fairly common knowledge that Vista requires a significantly more powerful computer that XP does. Then there are always the backwards compatibility problems.

Why would the average consumer pay ANYTHING for an OS that will run slower, not run any new software, and possibly not even run their old software? In fact, the average consumer so fervently does NOT want Vista that PC manufacturers were forced to re-introduce systems that came preloaded with XP into their product line.

Take a hint, Microsoft!
